God, he is the WORST. Seriously, how is he going to direct the Oscars after this? Especially after his classic non-apology. "I apologize for any offense my remarks caused... I should have been much more thoughtful about my choice of words." So... you think that word is an option to use. That's really all I need to know.

I just saw three different movie news sites calling for Ratner to be fired from the Oscars (and pointing out that other people in Hollywood might insist on that as well). This could get interesting.

He also very recently commented on Olivia Munn's comments about him in her book in the most misogynistic, borderline racist way possible, so really hes a winner from all ends.

I read about that, and it's disgusting, as is the f-word comment. But you gotta love the A.V. Club for its snarky headline and perfect choice of photo to go with the article. Thanks, Carrie Ann.

Last Friday, I heard of his statements regarding Munn allegedly being pissed that he forgot about her after they had a one night stand or something, and I just rolled my eyes. Seriously, dude? As I understood it, Munn did not name him in her book. She just referred to him as "The Director" and he was the one to "out" himself (so to speak) as the one.

He has since said that he didn't sleep with her. Not defending him, he just "apologized" to her and said he didn't actually "bang" her.

A very easily guessable blind item was revealed. Its Brett Ratner, and shocker! Adds to the HES A DOUCHE pile.

I think the thing that for lack of a better word amuses me, is that their line in the sand of getting access to this information is if someone gets into a serious relationship then it's all ACCESS DENIED! What morals! Especially given that the timing of the blind item and him starting this database is right in the middle of his relationship with Serena Williams.

Huh, he's gay as well. I've never actually given any thought to his personal life. Also I sometimes mix him up with Ron Howard. (What? They both have names that start with Ro and have made movies that get Oscar attention.)

Now, now. I think we're all being a mite hard on Messrs. Rattner and Bay. After all, they're always insisting that they want to be considered with other master filmmakers. Why, if the internet had existed in the '70s, I'm sure this is exactly what Davey Lean and Dickie Attenborough would have done.

In other dumb quote news, because The Rum Diary bombed in the US, Johnny Depp sez we Americans is stoopid:

He's so right. I'm not smart enough to live in a big city (being stoopid and all) but I know that the minute I cross the sign labeled "Now entering Phoenix City Limits" (or Chicago) (or New York) (or Los Angeles) my IQ will automatically jump 50 points and I will finally be able to grasp the nuances of Depp's masterworks. It's just so hard finding Charlie and the Chocolate Factory so mentally taxing, y'all!

I love Johnny Depp as an actor but all the past four months has taught me is he needs to stop giving interviews.

I think Johnny has been giving dumb interviews for the majority of his public life. I still remember Christina Kelly or some Sassy writer being, all, damn what a dick and that was 1991. And I know he gave at least one super douche one during Jump Street.

My biggest problem with the American People don't like smart movies thing is, when you've made three sequels to Pirates, your'e contributing to and benefitting from that culture of supposed stupidity so, shut it.

Is Birmingham considered a Big City because it's the biggest in Alabama, or not a Big City because it's, well, Alabama? I need to know if I'm smart enough to appreciate Johnny Depp movies or not.

Aaaaaaaaaand Ratner is no longer working on the Oscars, according to the Hollywood Reporter, anyway.

I hate it, but understand it, when Ratner himself says the words he used were "ill-judged." But when a reporter says it? I want to punch them as much as I want to punch Ratner. It seems worse, somehow, as if they're trying to be "fair and balanced" over something that doesn't need to be treated fairly.

I'd also love it if Tom Sherak or someone came out and said, "No, he didn't resign. We totally kicked his ass to the curb."

Johnny Depp has always said incredibly dumb things in interviews. Mostly of the emo, possibly alcoholic artist who lives in a chalet in France variety, and mostly forgivable on account of how much I enjoy him on screen. But...he should just stop talking. It wasn't a good idea 10 years ago, and it's not a good idea now.

I think its more that I didn't pay attention to his interviews before the Polanski defense.
