Re: Community
Chevy leaves the show, with 1 or 2 more episodes left to shoot.

Now's the perfect time to explain how Tori Scott has been at Greendale as long as the study group, but just has had a different schedule.
Re: Community
What a douche. This is the final season of the show. At least stick around for the final episode!

Quitting with two possible episodes to go is a total douche move. He is in the finale, which will cause continuity errors that make the internet explode.
Re: Community
Come back to me about that when you are in a screaming match with Meatloaf on the Celebrity Apprentice.and it’s still a sitcom on television, which is probably the lowest form of television.”

Awesome.
Can we transition the verb from "to Britta" to "to Pierce"?

Whoever gets to write the oral history of Commmunity is going to have a great book with a small audience.

You guys? Tonight is October 19th! Happy Day! This will help ease the loss of Ben & Kate/Don't Trust the B, even though I know it is also likely to be cancelled. Whatever I'm SAVORING this last season.
Although I would find it poignant and hilarious if it miraculously turns in to a ratings winner, even relatively, after poor Dan got the boot.

Re: Community
it was ok. Enough to assuage some fears about the new show runners. Punching Leonard is a good start. The Abed stuff didn't do much.
The other seasons took a few episodes to get rolling anyway.

Re: Community
That's kind of how I feel. It was too meta and slapstick for me, but several of the first episodes of the last two seasons have been too meta and slapstick for me, so they might just need to settle in.

The biggest laugh for me was the ad for "Blind/Blonde" starring Britta and Annie that briefly appeared on the bottom of the screen during one of Abed's happy place moments. It took me a second to realize it wasn't an actual NBC ad! I also wish that Fred Willard were on the show all the time.

Re: Community

There is literally no such thing in my world as too much meta or too much slap stick (Threes Stooges, Chevy Chase, Wipeout all of it makes me laugh until my sides ache).
For me it was, not as wittily quotable, but just as funny as ever, if a little pressed and frenetic, but it often is pressed and frenetic even under Harmon. I treated it like a pilot for a new show, and as those go this was better than most.
Greendale babies made me laugh and laugh. I also loved Annie playing out her life as a hospital administrator. The new show runners also got the heartfelt pieces of the shows identity, or maybe Joel McHale just really did a nice job with his super wacky storyline, but I loved how much this Jeff felt legitimately like New Jeff, 180 from the dude we met four years ago. Well maybe 90 degrees.
Re: Community
I had read some bad reviews, so my expectations were low. I really enjoyed it, though! Very entertaining, and nice to have it back for a little while.

Re: Community
I agree that it isn't as madly quotable as usual. About the only one that registered was:
"You smell like the floor of a movie theatre!"
"And not for the usual reasons."
They have to be wondering if it would have been better to have cast Fred Willard as Pierce in the first place. A porno theatre bust is preferable to dealing with Chase.
There was what I assume a Madarin character on the door across the hall from the Dean's condo. It probably has something to do with Chang. I hope it's Rabbi Chang's place.

Re: Community
okay, I'll say it. I was really disappointed in the Valloween episode. It just didn't make me laugh, and barely had any of the sly clever humor I associate with Community. I really hope that Rhilin is right and this is just the usual slow ramping up of the season.

Re: Community
I liked it, but I think I'm a little biased about Halloween episodes. Also Jeff and Britta sniping at each other. And I giggle at pretty much everything about Shirley and the....um..indoor swing room.
I was reading the AV Club earlier this week, and there were some mild mentions of the third episode in their review of the first (apparently those two episodes were given to critics), and the comments don't make me hopeful for the third episode. If they have three episodes in a row that long-time fans are "meh" on....that will be unfortunate.

I liked it. The haunted house with the Miami Vice aesthetic was enough to hook me and I was happy to see Giancarlo Esposito again.

Well good, I'm glad that other folks liked it. Maybe I just haven't been in quite the right mood or something.

I enjoyed it as well. One or two of the jokes fell flat - the one that stands out in my memory is Troy whining, "I hope it isn't expensive!" when he realizes he destroyed the remote. But otherwise, I felt like it was simply an average episode. I could see a string of episodes like this signalling that it's time to pack it in before the show sinks to late-season HIMYM levels of crap, but they can't all be the newest best episode ever.

I didn't love it, but I did like it better than last week's. And I was a little relieved, because last week's didn't really feel like Community to me. This one did again, even if it wasn't the funniest thing ever, so I felt better.

That and his "secret dogs?!?" I enjoyed, but overall the ep was only ok.
