I don't know what is up Future Husband Tom Hardy's hair in this poster, but whatever it is needs to stop now.

That was my first thought too! Eeek.
And then I read the summary of the movie, and all I can think is - there's going to be a lot of OT3 fic.

Re: Upcoming Films
We saw that trailer before Sherlock Holmes 2 and I have to admit, it looks really stupid, but I laughed my ass off nonetheless. I would totally catch it at the cheap theater, or when it pops up on cable.

Re: Upcoming Films
So this might actually happen.
Taylor Swift offered Eponine.
And to add to the wtf, Amanda Seyfried offered Cosette.
I mean, I'm not saying I want Swift as Cosette either, but if you HAVE to, do that and give Eponine to the actual actress (who still has a better voice than Swift).

I refuse to believe it till it shows up on Deadline, or at the very least Collider.

And now I feel bad for not wanting Lea Michele to get it. Yikes.

This makes me sad. I do think Amanda Seyfried will make a decent Cosette.

Re: Upcoming Films
I'm just trying to imagine the reactions of Scarlett Johannsen and Evan Rachel Wood. Bafflement is probably an understatement. Imagining Lea's reaction is even more entertaining. I wouldn't want to be on the Glee set this week.
I think I lost hope right around Anne Hathaway's casting. So at this point I'm like, hey, why the hell not? Is it too late to find a role for Bieber?

He's physically appropriate for Gavroche, right?

Re: Upcoming Films
If this is true, I'm going to fly protest planes over the set. I'm actually feeling ill just at the thought of this being true. Of the four they go with Swift?!
I'm actually really good with the casting of Amanda Seyfried.

Re: Upcoming Films
Part of the reason I'm not believing this is last I heard they weren't happy with either of the four and were holding open auditions in New York. I know some people on ONTD went to them.

Re: Upcoming Films
I'm not familiar with enough actors and actresses to hold much of an opinion on the subject (aside from, "sweet merciful crap do not cast Taylor Swift"), but I'd pay good money to see a Les Miz movie with this cast.

That would make for the most amazing "One More Day" ever.

It was confirmed on Broadway World, but I don't know how reliable a source that is.

I absolutely want this to happen RIGHT NOW. (But who plays Enjolras???)

Re: Upcoming Films
Clearly, they saved "Nick Cave as Javert" and "Bruce Springsteen as Jean Valjean" idea for last because it is the best.
I also am not ready to believe Taylor Swift was cast in this. It's baffling on both the singing and the acting fronts.

Re: Upcoming Films
The casting process of this movie is weird, to say the least. First Jackman is cast as Valjean - "Predictable, but perfect!" Then Russell Crowe gets Javert - "Uh...hmm. He can sing? Well, he can act, so I guess this works." Then Anne Hathaway gets Fantine - "Oh. Meh. Well, she can sing. Not my choice, but a legitimate choice." Then Aaron Tveit gets Enjolras - "OMG, PERFECT!" Now Swifty gets Eponine - "..........."
I may have gotten the timeline wrong, but it's baffling to see the sheer perfection of certain choices (Jackman, Tveit, Helena Bonham Carter as Madame Thernadier), and now...Swifty. As Eponine.

Re: Upcoming Films
You know who would be better than Swifty (I mean, aside from everyone) that still appeals to the same demographic that I think they're trying to go for? Vanessa Hudgens. A) I legitimately think she's got a stronger singing voice, and B) she wasn't half-bad in the Hollywood bowl version of Rent so I think she could act it, too. Or Naya Rivera (though the Glee set would become a very tense place). Or grab one of the girls from American Idiot or Hair which are both closed on Broadway. Something. Anyone but Taylor effing Swift.

Re: Upcoming Films
You know, I thought the eventual casting of Lea Michele as Eponine would annoy me. But with Taylor Swift, I can't even deal with such a terrible choice. It's a "That's it, I'm getting outta here!" casting decision. I'm a huge fan of the play, but I don't even think I bring myself to watch this movie when it eventually ends up on cable.

Deadline has confirmed Seyfried but not Swift so I continue to refuse to believe it and you can't make me.

Even in something I'm already not thrilled about like The Lorax, seeing her name in the trailer makes me sad. Les Mis? Might as well not waste the money even shooting the damned thing.

Re: Upcoming Films
I think the Taylor Swift thing is the last straw, if it turns out to be true.
I've been annoyed by other casting choices (does Helena Bonham Carter have to be in everything? Really? It's getting dull. Also - Russell Crowe? No. Ditto Anne Hathaway) but I just don't think I'm willing to watch Taylor Swift's attempt at Eponine. Looks like I'm out.

All the casting choices have been a big "meh" to me. And if Cameron MacIntosh has anything to do with the casting I am not in the least surprised by all the what the fuckery.

Re: Upcoming Films
I just feel so bad for one of my best friends right now - she's a theater critic who's madly in love with Jackman AND Tveit and now has to deal with this Swifty thing, and I don't know if she wants to cry or rage.
This casting decision isn't a deal-breaker for me but not because she isn't all wrong for the part, it's just that I don't care that much about Eponine and can barely stand to listen to "On My Own" because it's so overplayed. Javert and Fantine are the ones I care about. And while I think Russell Crowe will act the part well, I don't know whether he can handle "Stars," and Anne Hathaway annoys me but I like her singing voice, so it's a mixed bag for both of them (IMO).
I looove Naya, and Lea Michele gets on my nerves, but I think Lea's voice is much more appropriate for Eponine than Naya's. But yes, it would still be far better than what we have.
And I don't know if this is the right thread for this, but A Sequel to Bridesmaids without Kristen Wiig? I am SO SHOCKED that a major motion picture would consider the lead actress and CO-WRITER of a super-hit and critically acclaimed movie to be irrelevant to said movie's success! (No I'm not.)
