While it's a terrible casting decision, it might be a smart business one. I watched the 60 Minutes profile on Swifty, and that girl has capital-F Fans. The filmmakers may be hoping they'll fill the theaters.

Benedict Cumberbatch as the villain and Noel Clarke as someone in the new Star Trek movie! Sign me up. I mean I was already excited but this is seriously great. I guess the villain isn't Kahn because Cumberbatch is many things but he is also very pale.

I think he'd make for an excellent Romulan.

(If I'm remembering the timeline right, he's probably about the right age to be a young Khan. But yeah, far too wan.)

I really would hope in this day and age they wouldn't cast a white person to play a Indian Sikh.

I hope he's not Khan either. That said, this news of those two being cast is making me completely geek out over this movie and I was already very excited over it to begin with.

I'm seriously hoping that Swifty is playing Eponine. It will be the end of the Twee Princess' reign,especially if Hooper really is going to ask the cast to sing live on the set.
Stunt casting at it's most horrific,and I look forward to the juicy set reports.

I'm far too amused by Zoe Saldana being in The Words with Bradley Cooper. The thing is that she was in The Losers, which was awfully similar to Cooper's A-Team movie. Also, she was in Colombiana with Michael Vartan. Both men were in Alias. Now she needs to do a movie with the guy who played Danny. Or shortcut the nonsense and play Jennifer Garner's love interest next. Yeah, I think that's the best idea.

Because there's no thread for no-longer-upcoming movies, the Elfquest movie is dead. The WB execs see it as competing with the Hobbit.

Seriously? I see that it could be more complimentary than competing. After the Hobbit does a zillion dollars two years in a row, the studios will be greenlighting anything remotely similar. It would save time to have one already in production.

Think Christmas '14. Fanboys and girls have gone to see a big fantasy movie starring short people the last two years, they want more of the same, or at least something similar. And the execs, handed the opportunity on a plate, choose to reject it?

If it were me, I'd be fasttracking it right this instant.

I am currently partway through reading Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimimanda Adichie, which is a brilliant book, by the way, and giddy to find out there's a movie adaptation coming! I need to drag everyone I know to it when it opens.

I have no idea if this is the appropriate place to post this but THIS is a real thing that is really coming out in May. Words can not express the combination of horror/joy that I am feeling. If we ever do another SnarkerCon, can we please please please watch it?

Oh thank goodness THAT is Eponine. I mean I still kinda feel bad for Lea, but I'm glad they went with a stage person.

I really think that's what happened. She was seen going into Cameron Mackintosh's office. I think he must have had final say and given her the boot after he heard her sing.
