My sis and I were just talking about Giada and her husband yesternight. What a strange coincidence.

Crazy number of divorces, even for celebs! Do they wait to announce it so it won't put a damper on the holidays for family and friends, I wonder?

Celebrities always announce divorces around this time because its such a busy time they won't get harassed as much by paparazzi and TMZ and such as they would the other time of the year. They also hope it gets buried.

I think I'm most surprised by Giada and Todd--or rather, I'm apparently dumb enough to believe what I see on TV, and they've always looked ridiculously happy and in love.

A few years back, there were blind items about Giada and John Mayer. Honestly I thought they were kind of sketchy at the time, the BIs, and I'm kind of shocked Rachael Ray's outlasted her in the marriage stakes.

Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello, engaged? They just met in May, when she attended the White House Correspondents' Dinner with her ex-fiancé, and started dating in July. They are both really hot and don't seem like a bad match or anything, but she and the last guy were very on-and-off. Joe was pretty open about his crush on Sofia before they were dating, so on one hand it's sweet that it happened in real life. OTOH, Kenny Chesney saw Jerry Maguire, wrote a song called "You Had Me From Hello", years later married Renee Zellweger after a whirlwind courtship and...it ended in "fraud". So...

Well, she's saying the prenup should be set aside because it was based on fraud, not that the marriage was a fraud. At least, that was how I read it. And that could be for any number of reasons, but the one most likely is that he lied about his assets.

Messy. And I bet hes going to claim he took the passport because she tried to take the kid and run. MEEEEESSSY.

You know...with him I'm thinking its not so much gay, but two people who had sex, had a kid and tried to make it work and found out they SHOULD NOT HAVE. The passport taking though. MESSY. Like he might be bi or gay...but I feel like that fraud in this case is not necessarily because of that because yeah I read it as the pre nup was based on fraud and the marriage is ending because of irreconcilable differences.

Rene Zellweger and Kenny Chesney's divorce papers cited fraud, which coming after the whirlwind aspect of it all, that was mentioned up thread, had the gossip sites all in a tizzy that him being gay was the reason. (Why do I remember these things?!)

I'd forgotten that Jeremy Renner was married actually. Whatever is going on there, I hope their co-parenting skills don't become a casualty because no kid deserves to be raised in a parenting war zone.

Renee and Kenny went the annulment route because they weren't married long and it's an easier process in a legal sense, but most states don't have "irreconcilable differences" or something legally non-accusatory as grounds for an annulment. So fraud was the best option, with others being things like bigamy, being related, mental incapacity, being underage to marry. Of course, lawyers aren't looking at the media/public perspective, where there will be an eagerness to come up with some juicy story behind the fraud, not just that they realized they were incompatible and an annulment was the quickest way to move on.

If the wife were claiming she learned Renner was gay and misled her,  she could file the annulment to end the marriage itself. I would think invalidating the prenup would just make her entitled to claim a share of his earnings during the marriage but they weren't married that long (though my law degree is from the school of Law & Order so don't quote me on this). Maybe he signed some big Marvel contract in the last twelve months?

Mila and Ashton, married? I want Kelso + Jackie 4Eva, but I don't know...

I just really dislike Ashton Kutcher. And for whatever reason I've always really liked Mila Kunis. So I've always felt about them like ...they are your friend who is awesome but has a really douchey boyfriend, but shes ALWAYS been into him and finally got him and is so happy so you don't want to say anything, but your waiting for him to mess it up.

My dislike for Ashton Kutcher stems from Punk'd. Maybe I'm just a humorless weirdo, but I HATE practical jokes. Hate them. I find them inherently mean-spirited and unfunny.

Plus, Kelso wasn't even that hot. Hyde and even milquetoast Eric (c'mon! Topher Grace was such a cutie back then!) were more attractive. I think both Jackie and Mila can do better.

Figured this would be the place to post about the Ian Somerhalder/Nikki Reed engagement...

Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams. This makes me both wonder if those blind items about him and Taylor Swift were true, but also sad because I enjoyed their low key vibe.

Didn't Mandy Moore used to go out with a tennis player whose career went to hell after they broke up? And didn't it happen to some other bloke too, a performer or somebody? Because now I don't know much about Ryan Adams but I'm a bit concerned for him post break up.

LOL, Andy Roddick and Zach Braff. I have affection for Andy (I find him a delight) and I wouldn't say his career went to hell (he was a perennial finalist and semi finalist) but he won his only slam with her, and Zach Braff was the most likable with her, and we weren't aware of how sleazy Wilmer Valderrama was with her....so I will say shes a good luck charm of sorts.

Actually, I'm a Ryan Adams fan and pretty much the only time he hasn't been like a hot mess outside of music has been with her.
