Can somebody explain the attraction of Chris Martin please? He doesn't seem to have any kind of special magnetism or charisma or charm, he's not very good looking, so he must be amazing in bed.

Potentially almost as bad is the tabloids now matching up the lovely Nicholas Hoult with Kristen Stewart (who are currently working together on a film), though I think this is more wishful gossip-rich thinking on their behalf.

I looked up who Chris Martin was and I was like, Coldplay? Isn't that the band Chad Kroeger is in? But they're from Canada. And then I realized it wasn't that band. And then I had to look up Chad Kroeger because I didn't remember what his band was called. Be jealous of me that I repressed the name of Nickelback. Or have a shit memory, either one.

There was a time when I thought Chris Martin seemed like a cool dude, but now seeing his face just gets on my damn nerves. I don't even know when that switch flipped in my brain. And not that it has anything to do with whom he's dating, but whenever I see clips of him singing live, he sounds pretty terrible. I remember cringing watching him on the Grammys years ago. I actually wanted him and GOOP to stay together because they're both irritating, and so they were at least doing me the favor of containing that suckitude within a single duo.

Not that this doesn't seem like a huge mismatch, but Chris Martin can be reasonably charming when he's not fancying himself as the successor to Bono and IMO it's not like he's some hideous troll.

He's blond and British and has a nice voice. I, unfortunately, would totally hit it. See also: Law, Jude.

I think the Bono pose doesn't do him any favours in how he's generally regarded. I mean, being Bono doesn't even work for Bono, and U2 is more highly regarded than Coldplay.

Naah, still not buying it. He must have some magic weirdo ninja sex powers. Every time I look at him I see the whiner who sang about how everything was yellow. I still regard Coldplay as Travis's slightly less credible cousin in the ramshackle post-Oasis pop-rock stakes.

Martin is fish eyed, but he looks better with age and more weight on him. But even when I liked Coldplay's records I never really liked Coldplay. They are just so Adult Contemporary, Anne Helen Peterson put it well Cool Girl + Least Cool Dad EVER.

I actually see that as having a lot of potential, they looked good together out in Japan, but if Hoult couldn't take the "heat" of dating someone under so much scrutiny (as was rumored to be the reason he broke up with JLaw the first time) moving from JLaw to KStew wouldn't exactly make a lot of sense.

Someone on the news here said "He's probably excited to be with someone who eats pizza." Heh.

US says Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder moved in together after dating three weeks. Hopefully, this goes better than the hasty marriage to Paul McDonald the American Idol guy.

I actually think they're perfect for each other, I think he wants someone to bask in his glow, and she seems to like to bask in other people's glow, but it's still pretty fast and he still seems like a Wooderson, so she'll eventually age out of his bracket.

I only really listen to Coldplay when I do yoga, though I don't dislike them BUT while I probably wouldn't date Chris Martin (I heard rumors for years he fucked around on Gwyneth), he is extremely wealthy, a very famous musician, not horrible to look at and has always at least appeared to have a sense of humor. I had a friend who was an assistant to their tour manager and only had lovely things to say about him, so my opinion of him has always been colored by that. So I can see why she is dating him. We've all dated worst prospects tbh. And she might be a Coldplay fan. I mean if Jay-Z was single I'd date him all because of my love for Big Pimping and he looks Joe the cigarette camel. I'd question it more if he was like...Marilyn Manson. That's one I will NEVER get.

Also they are both kind of on the rebound. I don't think they'll be together this time next year.

This leads into my thing though. So I really like Michael Sheen but am not a fan of Sarah Silverman (weirdly I've only liked her, aside from I'm Fucking Matt Damon, in dramatic work like Masters of Sex or Take this Waltz). However I listened to his nerdist podcast and they seemed like a really cute couple. So you never know.

This is the most I've ever talked about Chris Martin since the time I had a dream he was my awkward date to a wedding and didn't know how to Macarena.
