Re: Upcoming Films
Before the Devil Knows Your Dead was one of my favorite movies the year it came out. Hes great in that.
I think hes a total douche irl, kinda the proto James Franco, but like Franco I find him very compelling on screen.
That is adorable. I remember when I saw Before Sunset I was EXTREMELY happy that it was

Re: Upcoming Films
World War Z looks like it could be an interesting movie, but nothing at all like it should be with that title. I just wish they'd made that movie without buying the property, and left it available for the mini-series it should more appropriately be.

Re: Upcoming Films
We saw the preview for Life at 40 before Skyfall today and when it was over my husband said, "They should just call that 'Either get a divorce or quit whining.'" I, meanwhile, was struck by the unmitigated narcissism of Judd Apatow, writing a movie about his midlife crisis then casting his own wife and kids in it.
Needless to say, I don't think Casa Moneypenny will be seeing that one.

Re: Upcoming Films
The only part of that news that shocks me is the fact that the film is being released in 2016 and not next summer. Does that mean they actually intend to put some thought into the film? How much thought can really go into a movie about that game though, right? And besides, won't Angry Birds be a thing of the past in the next 3 years?

Re: Upcoming Films
I think SF will officially be the place I run to whenever I want to be baffled. An Entourage movie? WHY????????

Re: Upcoming Films
Because there were SO MANY UNANSWERED QUESTIONS. What happened to James Cameron's career? Did he ever make AVATAR in the Entourage-verse? Or did he get sucked into the world of Justice League movies? Did Ari choose the studio head job over his wife? How much money do you have to spend to round up an out of work cast that no one's cared about in... however many years it's been?

Wow. You're SO right! I had no idea Entourage was still that relevant! Can the movie please come out tomorrow so I can have all my Vince and Co. questions answered already?????????

Re: Upcoming Films
Finally. The way it should be. I haven't had any interest in the Marvin Gaye biopic since Jesse's name fell off the project. He's the only one I could envision in the role since he was originally cast for it years ago.

Whoa, just from a physical standpoint (since I can't recall seeing any of his work), he is perfect for that role. If he's dedicated rniugh to have stuck with the project for so long, it'll hopefully be incredible.

Re: Upcoming Films
David Goyer to direct 'Count of Monte Cristo'
This book is a favourite of mine, though I well understand that with all the characters and them having backstories to their backstories, it can be a bit condensed for the screen, so I hope they do it justice. I enjoyed the 2002 version and the TV movie with Richard Chamberlain did quite well in being as faithful to the story as it could be given the time constraints.
However, this gave me pause:
Will that work? I admit, I've never thought of the story in that way before so it may turn out to be wonderful and this is just me having to readjust my attitude. Maybe I'm just sceptical and prone to judging it before I see it because I thought The Three Musketeerswasn't that good and I felt the steampunk elements were shoehorned in and the characterisation and plot really let the film down.
Oh, do these filmmakers not realise just how much more worry they're brining into my life with things like this??! And it's not like I don't have enough to be contending with these days, the way I'm fretting and doing novenas for Man of Steel to be, not just good, but OMG SO GOOD!

However, this gave me pause:
...Constantin’s approach for Monte Cristo will be akin to the refurbished take Warner Bros. did on its Sherlock Holmes movies as well as its DC heroes. In fact, one source tells The Hollywood Reporter that a buzz phrase for Monte Cristo is “19th century Dark Knight.” Constantin put an ultra-modern spin on a literary classic with Paul W.S. Anderson's The Three Musketeers, which didn't catch on domestically but performed solidly internationally.

Re: Upcoming Films
Well, to be fair, Goyer is a much better director than Paul S. Anderson, though most people are. I don't know if it will work but I thought the 2002 movie was a bit of a hot mess too, albeit with attractive men.

Re: Upcoming Films
Well, if we're going to be fair about it, then what's the point?? That just ruins my sense of entitlement about these things![/whine]
Yes. Indeed. It was filmed partly in Ireland - the party at the Count's house where he introduces himself was filmed at Powerscourt House and Gardens in Co. Wicklow - and at Ardmore Studios so a lot of the crew were Irish. Therefore, I have to like it in the national interest. But I liked it anyway.

I liked the 2002 version. Guy Pearce was hot and crazy and baby!Henry Cavill!
The Three Musketeers was VILE. I lost my movie-picking privileges for a while after that one.

Re: Upcoming Films
There are talks of remaking Weird Science. No thanks. I love Weird Science but it really only works well as a totally 80s movie. What's the point of remaking it? Who's going to be cool with two dudes making a hot girl? Not going to fly. It would have to be two girls making a hot guy.

I follow David Harewood on Twitter, and he's been tweeting about the Marvin Gaye film he's currently working on. From the first time I ever saw Jesse L Martin (in Ally McBeal), and then heard him sing on the RENT soundtrack, I've been waiting for this to happen, so am very excited that it is actually being made.

TiffanyNichelle, I think it could totally go the way you mentioned with two ladies making a hot dude. That sounds way more fun quite frankly. And ya know, wouldn't piss everyone off.

Re: Upcoming Films
I think the world is ready for a movie where Chloe Moretz and Elle Fanning use their computer to make Chaning Tatum.
