Bruce Wayne as EW, that Guy. Heh. I don't think of Bruce Wayne when I see Ben, but I can always pretend that Bruce sent Nightwing to help Supes because he couldn't be arsed. Ben would make a great Nightwing.

It'll be fine. It's not like Snyder is known for subtly plumbing the depths of the human psyche. The Fleck is perfectly capable of being charming with a dark edge. I'd actually argue that that's his acting strength. Besides, blaming him entirely for Daredevil is like blaming the Star Wars prequels on Natalie Portman.

I think Ben can be a really really bad actor. But I also think he's been really really good: Shakespeare's in Love, Changing Lanes (the role I think most resembles dark playboy with a newly awakened conscience), and Dogma. I love him in GWH too, but that was practically Eminem playing Rabbit in 8 Mile.

I'm with swsa Snyder is this generations Joel Schumacher minus the fabulously glitzy homosexual subtext. It's not really surprising he'd pic Ben for Batman.

I feel completely opposite about his role in SiL - I find him completely distracting in just how bad he is, from accent to...well, everything. I have no idea why someone thought "oh, Ben Affleck!" to play one of the great actors in Elizabethan theatre.

And while Elizabethan theatre is not Batman, he seems similarly wrong for Bruce Wayne. Bruce Wayne grew up as a blueblood aristocrat, yes? And Affleck has that persona...how?

I actually thought he was great in that movie. Its one of my favourite performances of his. His entrance where he goes "AT LAST AN ACTOR IS HERE" is one of my favourite moments in that entire film.

It is kind of hilarious to go back and read the reactions to Heath Ledger's casting. Not even including this casting but fanboy reactions are always kind of hysterical.

Bruce Wayne is scion to a blueblood dynasty, but neither of his parents are ever depicted as acting particularly aristocratic, so they wouldn't have raised him that way for the ten years they did, and afterwards Alfred is ex-special ops working class and Leslie Thompkins runs (ran? don't even know if she exists in the New 52) a free clinic in the neighborhood where the Waynes were murdered, so they wouldn't raise Bruce that way either.

As RiverThames noted, any aristocratic bearing in Bruce Wayne is part of the playboy billionaire philanthropist mask to deflect people away from Batman. It's crafted and artificial and not something inherent in Bruce's upbringing or makeup.

I saw the new trailer for Ender's Game, and I must express my feels.

So relieved this is settled now and I can stop worrying about anyone I like doing this movie.

Hmmm, Charlie Hunnam will bring the dark edge that could de-cheesify some of the material. I don't know anything about Dakota Johnson but good luck to her on delivering what are bound to be some painfully stupid lines.

Damn, I posted about this on the book thread without seeing this first. Oh, well.

Charlie Hunnam can pull off the dark, dominant thing pretty well but I'm not so sure about Dakota Johnson. I have a problem seeing the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson as pure and virginal.

She was very good on Ben and kate. I mean obviously she wasn't virginal but she projected a surprising naivety a lot of the time.

I love Dakota, buy I've seen her most often in a comedic setting, though she handled the dramatic aspects of Kate quite well.

I can't believe this thing is still getting made.

There's not much to her role other than getting naked and looking overwhelmed with fear/lust, so I'm sure she'll be fine. I have trouble imagining him as some sophisticated, genius CEO though.

I wonder if they'll have to dye their hair to look like Edward and Bella the characters from the books.

I'm so relieved that Matt Boner Bomer has nothing to do with the project.

At first I read it as "Dakota Fanning" and was really confused! I am not a huge fan of the series or anything but the other names bandied about for Christian made a lot more sense, at least in terms of seeming to fit the part, than Charlie Hunnam. I wonder what the hardcore fangirls will make of him.

Yeah, they are both waaaaay too good for this. Ian Somerhalder being cast would have annoyed me, but that's the quality the material deserves. Damon Salvatore and Rory Gilmore turning this into a CW explosion of cheesiness is exactly what this should be. Now I have to hope for the actual cast's sake that it doesn't fail spectacularly.

Somerhalder would have been perfect for the cheesebomb that movie will undoubtedly be. Pretty boy who also looks menacing in a laughable way.
